Empowering Educators with Gen AI Training

I’ve been lecturing at third level for over 30 years, and I’ve spent the last several years trying to understand the impact of AI on education.

I’m co-chair of Munster Technological University’s working group on Generative Artificial Intelligence, and was a member of the National Advisory Group on Generative AI for the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning - the body that shapes teaching and learning policy across Irish higher education.

I also work closely with the NAPD, delivering bespoke training for Principals and Deputy Principals on the responsible use of AI within the secondary school system.

I’m a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) a recognition reserved for educators who have demonstrated sustained impact on teaching and learning.

I built AI Simplified for Educators because I saw, first-hand, how unprepared most institutions were for what was coming, and how much damage that could do to staff confidence, student outcomes, and institutional trust.

I firmly believe that well-intentioned educators can integrate Generative AI into educational practices in a way that will support effective learning rather than replacing it.

We're all learning how to do this effectively in real time, and I look forward to working with and learning from our community of educators in Ireland and beyond.
